The Ministère de la Culture's notice
Historique

History
Montus was the seat of an ancient parish, from the 14th century to the Revolution. The present house was built near a chapel now disappeared. The lands were always devoted to viticulture and produced wines appreciated as far as the Netherlands. The cultivation of vine was gradually abandoned in the 19th century. This wine cellar constitutes the third side of the farm court of the château. It is a vast elongated building, of rectangular plan, protected from the wind by an embankment and by the hillside. The façade facing the court is enlivened by regular openings, arranged on either side of the monumental portal.
