Historique

History
Originally monastic barn serving the clearing and development of the Causse de Gramat in the Middle Ages, and priory, the buildings were destroyed during the Hundred Years War. Subsequently, the new leaseholders erected a stronghold which does not appear to have preserved any trace of the 13th-century Cistercian constructions. In the 16th century, the Wars of Religion led to the construction of cannon towers and the walls were pierced with firing chambers for culverins. In the 17th century, the castle consisted of the 15th-century stronghold and two perpendicular wings, to the north and south. In the 18th century, a west wing was built perpendicular to the other two, and the north wing was destroyed. The interior preserves a hall with 19th-century decoration, as well as furnishings that belonged to Marshal Soult.
