Originally, the castle would date back to the time of Saint-Louis. In the 16th century, the buildings fall into ruin due to lack of maintenance. From 1713 to 1720, numerous works are carried out (roofs, walls, ditches, towers, stairs, windows, balustrades). Between 1730 and 1760, significant transformations are effected (ditches filled in, demolition of towers, construction of stable and various buildings including the chapel). Between 1765 and 1769, construction of the clock tower and that of the menagerie, the dovecot and various outbuildings. In 1774, construction of the cloister courtyard. In the 19th century, construction of the terrace. From 1929 to 1931, several buildings are demolished (stable, dairy, dovecot). In 1936, a fire destroys part of the interior of the main building. The castle presents itself as a single-storey building flanked by two projecting wings. The north building is extended by a wing upon which rest the outbuildings delimiting two courtyards. The south building partially masks a round tower, an evocation of an older castle. The north wing houses a small library entirely panelled with 18th century decoration. On two sides, the courtyard is bordered by round arch or basket-handle arcades. The second courtyard is defined by single-storey buildings.
