La communauté des Ursulines est fondée par Louis XIII à Toulouse, en 1611. En 1624, elles s'installent à Grenade dans une maison qui leur est donnée par Jean Dépuntis, marchand. La construction du couvent commence au début du 17e siècle. La façade sur rue date du 19e siècle. En 1794, l'établissement est transformé en hôpital militaire et subit des transformations, mais le bâtiment délimitant le jardin sur le côté nord conserve des dispositions architecturales intéressantes. Il se caractérise par des façades de briques cuites percées de rares ouvertures, avec arcades en rez-de-chaussée, et mirandes au dernier étage. A l'intérieur, deux plafonds peints ont été conservés, datant du 17e siècle. Ces peintures présentent des enroulements d'acanthe ocre, rouge et noir sur fond gris clair, se développant autour de cartouches en médaillons figurant des paysages. History
The community of Ursulines was founded by Louis XIII in Toulouse in 1611. In 1624, they settled in Grenade in a house given to them by Jean Dépuntis, merchant. Construction of the convent began in the early 17th century. The street façade dates from the 19th century. In 1794, the establishment was converted into a military hospital and underwent transformations, but the building delimiting the garden on the north side retains interesting architectural features. It is characterized by façades of fired brick pierced by rare openings, with arcades on the ground floor, and mirandes on the top floor. Inside, two painted ceilings from the 17th century have been preserved. These paintings feature acanthus scrolls in ochre, red and black on a light grey background, developing around cartouches in medallions depicting landscapes. On the top floor of the north-west corner there remains a painted wall (silhouettes of angels between trellis of foliage).
