Montrozier fut la demeure des comtes de Rodez, leur première résidence hors de la ville. A la fin du 13e siècle, ils se fixèrent à Gages, château voisin. History
Montrozier was the residence of the counts of Rodez, their first residence outside the city. At the end of the 13th century, they settled at Gages, a neighbouring château. During the troubles of the 15th century, the routier Rodrigue de Villandrado resided there in 1431. In 1487, Louis XI granted Montrozier to Jean, bastard of Armagnac. In 1761, Montrozier was created a marquisate.
