Cette chapelle de pélerinage a remplacé un temple de Mars. Le lieu fut épargné par les Maures refluant vers le sud après la bataille de Poitiers. Au 10e siècle, les pélerins affluèrent à la suite de la délivrance d'une épidémie de peste noire qui ravageait le pays. De l'ancienne chapelle, il ne reste plus que l'implantation, la construction actuelle avec son abri de berger datant de 1851. Quatre fenêtres éclairent l'intérieur, de plan rectangulaire. Le campanile en pierre de taille supporte une statue de la Vierge.

History
This pilgrimage chapel replaced a temple of Mars. The place was spared by the Moors flowing back towards the south after the battle of Poitiers. In the 10th century, pilgrims flocked to it following the deliverance from an epidemic of black plague which was ravaging the country. Of the former chapel, there remains only the layout, the present construction with its shepherd's shelter dating from 1851. Four windows light the interior, of rectangular plan. The campanile in ashlar supports a statue of the Virgin.
