Historique
La seigneurie existe dès le 11e siècle, dépendant de la vicomté de Murat. Confisquée à J. de Nemours, décapité en 1477, donnée à Jean de L'Isle, elle est rendue au duc de Nemours par le roi. Elle échoit à Pierre de Bourbon mais, confisquée au connétable et annexée à la couronne, elle entre plusieurs fois dans l'apanage des reines douairières. En 1641, Louis XIII l'attribue à Honoré de Grimaldi. Au 11e siècle existait une forteresse beaucoup plus importante que l'actuel château, dont subsistent quelques fondations, détruite en 1360 par Jean Chandos, lieutenant du roi d'Angleterre. Le château actuel paraît avoir été construit au 16e siècle avec les matériaux de la forteresse et partiellement sur un élément de cette dernière, resté en place. Son plan est tel qu'à l'origine mais l'ensemble, à l'exception de la tour centrale (escalier) a été réduit d'un étage, sans doute au 18e siècle qui a vu la construction d'une aile et la mise en place de boiseries. La tour des archives, à l'arrière, a été rasée pendant la Révolution, époque probable du martellement de l'Annonciation du linteau de la porte de la tour centrale. Certaines fenêtres conservent des éléments de vitraux aux armes des Lastic (17e-18e siècle). La chambre du deuxième étage est ornée de papiers peints d'époque.

History
The seigneury existed from the 11th century, dependent on the viscounty of Murat. Confiscated from J. de Nemours, beheaded in 1477, given to Jean de L'Isle, it was returned to the Duke of Nemours by the king. It fell to Pierre de Bourbon but, confiscated from the constable and annexed to the crown, it entered several times into the appanage of dowager queens. In 1641, Louis XIII granted it to Honoré de Grimaldi. In the 11th century there existed a fortress much more important than the present château, of which some foundations remain, destroyed in 1360 by Jean Chandos, lieutenant of the King of England. The present château appears to have been built in the 16th century with materials from the fortress and partially on an element of the latter, which remained in place. Its plan is as it was originally but the whole, with the exception of the central tower (staircase) has been reduced by one storey, probably in the 18th century which saw the construction of a wing and the installation of woodwork. The archives tower, at the rear, was razed during the Revolution, the probable period of the hammering out of the Annunciation on the lintel of the door of the central tower. Certain windows retain elements of stained glass bearing the arms of the Lastic (17th-18th century). The second-floor chamber is decorated with period wallpaper.
