L'église a été bâtie par les moines bénédictins de Conques qui y avaient fondé un prieuré. L'église primitive comprenait une nef centrale, en plein cintre, et des bas-côtés en quart de cercle. Le choeur carré, voûté en berceau, accolé de deux absidioles, se terminent par une abside circulaire. De l'édifice roman subsiste le chur. Le reste a été plusieurs fois remanié. La nef et les chapelles latérales datent de 1840. Le clocher, démoli avant 1838, a été reconstruit vers 1858, et se termine par une balustrade en brique avec un toit en faible pente faute de moyens pour réaliser le projet de l'architecte Magne.

History
The church was built by Benedictine monks of Conques who had founded a priory there. The primitive church comprised a central nave, in round arch, and aisles in quarter circle. The square choir, vaulted in barrel vault, flanked by two absidioles, ends with a circular apse. Of the Romanesque building subsists the choir. The rest has been remodelled several times. The nave and lateral chapels date from 1840. The bell tower, demolished before 1838, was reconstructed around 1858, and ends with a brick balustrade with a roof of gentle slope for lack of means to carry out the project of the architect Magne.
