Historique

History
The construction of the castle was undertaken from 1309, by authorisation of Philippe Le Bel, and extends until the 15th century. The visible remains present, to the south, a façade between two circular towers. The west tower represented the keep; that of the east contained the spiral staircase which served the storeys. The façade is cut back to the height of the windows of the second storey. The north façade is completely ruined; the east and west walls are partly so. The castle must have affected a rectangular plan, with a tower at each corner. The hall of the second storey of the keep presents a hexagonal plan and is covered by a rib vault profiled with three cavets superimposed on either side of a flat, radiating in six branches from a prominent keystone, and falling in interpenetration into the corners. At the upper part of the walls of this hall ran a painted heraldic frieze, with coats of arms presented in medallions with a frame of branches of foliage.
