Statue érigée pour commémorer le souvenir du pape Gerbert 1er, pape français du 10e siècle. Inaugurée le 16 juin 1851. Elle représente le pape Gerbert debout, coiffé de la tiare, dans une attitude de la chaire. Le socle en granit est orné de trois bas-reliefs représentant un jeune pâtre examinant les astres, l'archevêque Gerbert expliquant à une assemblée le fonctionnement d'une horloge à balancier et le jeu d'un orgue à vapeur, enfin le pape Gerbert sur la Sedia Gestatoria.

History
Statue erected to commemorate the memory of Pope Gerbert I, French pope of the 10th century. Inaugurated on 16 June 1851. It represents Pope Gerbert standing, wearing the tiara, in an attitude of the pulpit. The granite socle is decorated with three bas-reliefs representing a young shepherd examining the stars, the archbishop Gerbert explaining to an assembly the functioning of a pendulum clock and the workings of a steam organ, finally Pope Gerbert on the Sedia Gestatoria.
