Historique

History
Construction from the late 15th century, altered in the following centuries. The château was completed between 1450 and 1500 by Louis d'Arçon de Chauvigny, chamberlain of the Duke of Bourbon. At the Revolution, the keep was reduced from three to one storey during the period of destruction of the emblems of feudalism. The manor forms a block of buildings comprising the main dwelling and outbuildings, enclosed within the same enclosure and surrounded by moats. Access to the manor is by a gate pierced through a square tower preceded by a stone bridge. A drawbridge following the stone bridge was replaced by a stone arch. The courtyard is occupied by the main dwelling comprising a vaulted ground floor, a first floor and roof space covered by a barrel vault roof structure. A spiral staircase, placed in a square tower in the middle of the courtyard façade, serves the storeys. The courtyard is surrounded by outbuildings topped by a timber-framed gallery with moulded posts. This external timber-framed gallery is a very rare and particularly distinctive arrangement, preserved intact. Inside, the manor has retained some fireplaces and doors with moulded jambs.
