Historique

History
The church comprises a nave of three bays with aisles, a double transept with semi-circular absidioles, a choir composed of a rectangular bay on which opens the sanctuary established on a semi-circular plan. The crypt extends beneath the choir and the sanctuary. The nave was formerly closed by an ogival barrel vault carried on a transverse arch. The vaults collapsed after having dislodged the side walls. A lattice and plaster barrel vault replaces them today. The aisles of the nave are covered with rib vaults; the transepts and the rectangular bay of the choir with ogival barrel vault; the crossing bay with rib vault on ribs. Above this crossing, above the roof spaces, rises a square base bearing an octagonal bell tower composed of two openwork storeys surmounted by a section of stone spire. The openings of the bell tower storeys are furnished with stone tracery established at the beginning of the 13th century. The building, conceived on a Romanesque plan, appears to have been completed only at the period when the transitional style from the 12th to the 13th century was beginning to establish itself. This influence is clearly felt in the sculpture of the capitals.
