Historique

History
Defensive castle formed by an ensemble of buildings and curtains completely surrounding a courtyard. The buildings are from different periods and show the transition from military castle to pleasure residence, from the 13th to the 19th century. In the 15th century, part of the fortifications was demolished to make way for a main dwelling on the edge of the ravine. In the 18th century, outbuildings were built within the perimeter of the enclosure and a vast terrace was constructed to the north-east, outside the walls. In the 19th century, a new main dwelling was built to the north-east, in Renaissance style, probably on the site of another dwelling dating from the Renaissance. The three towers date from the 13th and 14th centuries. The 15th-century main dwelling presents windows with stone crosses, with a staircase turret and a chapel perched on a sort of porch. The current bridge, situated between the tournebride and the church, would envelop the masonry of a medieval bridge. The 17th-century terrace is flanked by watch turrets and accessible by a monumental staircase. The 15th-century tournebride, intended to receive the servants of guests, represents a miniature castle.
