History

Ensemble of built elements from the 16th to 18th century. The convent was founded in 1350 on the site of a chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame de Pitié. At the two extremities of the church of Saint-Pierre are set the dwelling blocks delimiting the former courtyard onto which the cloister opened. A series of openings opens onto the courtyard, in round arch with projecting keystone, moulded under a larmier. Their springing is on cubic pillars with Doric capitals. Each of these openings is built in brick, offering a polychromy obtained by black bricks forming lozenges. A brick cornice, formed of four superimposed projecting bands, crowns each of the façades overlooking the courtyard. The façade on Rue Delorme opens by a monumental portal with threshold raised by three steps. The round arch, with projecting vault keystone, is constructed with rustication, as are the jambs against which are engaged pilasters supporting, by Ionic capitals, an entablature decorated with a triglyph on a row of drops. On either side of this façade extended to the south projects a wing or pavilion. The east wing, which is in the extension of the choir and of the storey above the latter, is raised by one storey more than the dwelling block at the extremity of which it projects.
