History

Dwelling of the 15th century having undergone substantial restorations in the 19th century. The edifice is constituted by a body of buildings flanked to the west by two large round towers which represent, like the postern, a part of the vestiges of the fortress, and to the east by two polygonal towers of the 15th century containing spiral staircases. The southern one is surmounted by a palm of ribs. An avant-corps to the south-east of the castle marks the location of an old chapel built in the 17th century, when that of the castle became the parish church. The east façade retains doors with flamboyant Gothic decoration. The postern comprises two towers with three levels preceding a small gatehouse in which a portcullis rose and descended. A small bridge with balustrade replaces the corbelling over machicolations between the two towers pierced with arrow slits. The openings were enlarged in the 15th century. Inside, two 15th-century fireplaces remain in rooms of the second level. The rest of the interiors was recomposed in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the drawing room, the beams are supported by marble columns, and a fireplace of the same colour completes the ensemble. The walls are entirely lined with panels of moulded wood which present horizontally the profile in crossbow usual to the 18th century. The billiard room is also lined with 18th-century panels. To the east of the castle extends the site of an old formal garden with, at the centre, a basin.
