Viaduc métallique servant à la voie ferrée reliant Gannat à Bordeaux, oeuvre de jeunesse de Gustave Eiffel. L'ouvrage a une hauteur de soixante mètres et la longueur du tablier métallique est de 130 mètres. Entre les deux massifs maçonnés des extrémités, le tablier métallique, composé d'une poutre droite à treillis simple à croix de Saint-André, est supporté par deux piles métalliques du même type que le viaduc de Neuvial, formées de quatre colonnes cylindriques étrésillonnées par des croix de Saint-André. History
Metal viaduct serving the railway line connecting Gannat to Bordeaux, a work of youth of Gustave Eiffel. The structure has a height of sixty metres and the length of the metal deck is 130 metres. Between the two masonry masses of the ends, the metal deck, composed of a straight girder with simple lattice with Saint-Andrew's cross, is supported by two metal piers of the same type as the viaduct of Neuvial, formed of four cylindrical columns braced by Saint-Andrew's crosses. This viaduct marks an important stage in the progress of metal construction, constituting the first example, with that of Neuvial, of the substitution of metal for masonry.
