History
Discovered during the winter of 1934-1935, the site presents a stratigraphy showing the succession of seasonal habitats of the Upper Périgordian (around 22,000 years ago), the Protomagdalenian (around 20,000 years ago), the Early Magdalenian (around 18,000 years ago), Late (around 13,000 years ago) and Terminal (around 11,000 years ago). The distribution of remains (hearths, alignments of blocks) revealed the existence of huts built against the cliff face. The ownership of the prehistoric site (formerly owned by the State, Ministry of Culture) was transferred to the commune by agreement signed on 28 June 2007.
