History

Farm built essentially in the late 17th century and early 18th century from an older construction, having preserved its old layout. This construction is representative of the rural dwelling of this region of the south-western plateaus of Velay, built in volcanic stone. The primitive nucleus is constituted by a square building situated at the western corner. In the 17th century was added a large building for use as barn and stable, then, in 1686, a building set back on the western side. In the 18th century, another building body was disposed symmetrically on the eastern side. The courtyard is enclosed by a wall which encloses at the south-eastern corner the oven. The barn building opens by a round-arched door giving access, on the ground floor, to the stable. Access to the barn, situated on the first floor, is made by a narrow door preceded by a small straight stair; the main entrance is made at the rear by a wide gateway. The eastern wing, dated 1686, contained decoration of the 17th century: one room had a wood ceiling painted with floral motifs. This decoration has recently disappeared.
