Une inscription en langue mi-romane mi-languedocienne mentionne la construction du château en l'an 1326. Des éléments d'arcatures gothiques existent encore au pied du château qui dut être fortement remanié aux 16e et 17e siècles. L'aile ouest a été ajoutée au 18e siècle. History
An inscription in a language half-Romanesque half-Occitan records the construction of the castle in the year 1326. Elements of Gothic arching still exist at the foot of the castle which must have been substantially remodelled in the 16th and 17th centuries. The west wing was added in the 18th century. Two towers remain from the primitive manor which originally must have been limited to the central body whose spiral staircase lit by two oculi limited its importance. The grand salon, fitted out under Louis XIV, retains its overmantel and ceiling. Cordovan leather covers it entirely, with decoration of birds and acanthus scrolls. The room above the salon bears decoration of painted canvases of the 18th century with a French ceiling.
