Historique
Petite place en terrasse s'étendant au devant du porche latéral sud de la cathédrale conservant, dans son sous-sol et ses murs de soubassement, des pierres de toutes les époques de l'histoire de la ville depuis l'Antiquité. Les murailles qui soutiennent la place remonteraient au 11e ou 12e siècle. Deux épaisses murailles de 2, 60 à 5 mètres de profondeur sont séparées par une sorte de chemin de ronde, lui-même rempli de débris (colonnes, bas-reliefs, chapiteaux...). Les murs de soutènement actuels sont épaulés par des contreforts terminés en glacis. A leur partie supérieure et centrale, un petit édicule en forme de calvaire rappelle l'oratoire qu'y avait édifié le chanoine Pierre Odin vers 1470. Cet oratoire a été incendié en 1793. Plus rien n'en subsiste, hormis la croix actuelle et la tête du Christ en bronze et ferronnerie.

History
Small terraced place extending in front of the southern side porch of the cathedral preserving, in its subsoil and its foundation walls, stones from all periods of the town's history since Antiquity. The walls supporting the place would date back to the 11th or 12th century. Two thick walls of 2.60 to 5 metres in depth are separated by a sort of path; this is itself filled with debris (columns, bas-reliefs, capitals...). The present retaining walls are buttressed by counterforts ending in a slope. At their upper and central part, a small structure in the form of a calvary recalls the oratory which canon Pierre Odin had built there around 1470. This oratory was burnt down in 1793. Nothing remains of it now except the present cross and the head of Christ in bronze and ironwork.
