Historique
Divers actes mentionnent l'établissement aux 11e et 12e siècles. L'édifice actuel remonte au 14e siècle. Au pied du rocher de l'Aiguilhe se trouve une partie des bâtiments de l'ancien hôpital d'Aiguilhe qui devint par la suite une annexe de celui du Puy pour le soin des maladies contagieuses. Les bâtiments encore existants présentent un vaste quadrilatère accroché à une porte en tiers point de l'enceinte primitive. La face sud est ornée d'une tourelle d'escalier. La face ouest présente une longue muraille n'ayant jamais subi la moindre restauration. Des ouvertures en tiers point, à remplages gothiques, arcs de décharge divers, redents à encorbellement, corbeaux de bretèches disparues animent cette façade. A l'intérieur est conservée une cheminée gothique avec un linteau composé d'éléments séparés et sculptés.

History
Various documents mention the establishment in the 11th and 12th centuries. The present building dates back to the 14th century. At the foot of the Aiguilhe rock are found parts of the buildings of the old hospital of Aiguilhe which subsequently became an annex of that of Le Puy for the treatment of contagious diseases. The still-existing buildings present a vast quadrilateral clinging to a pointed-arch gateway of the primitive enclosure. The south face is decorated with a staircase turret. The west face presents a long wall that has never undergone the slightest restoration. Pointed-arch openings with Gothic tracery, various relieving arches, corbelled setbacks, corbels of vanished machicolations animate this façade. Inside, a Gothic fireplace is preserved with a lintel composed of separate and sculpted elements.
