L'ancienne église dépendait du chapitre de la cathédrale de Clermont suite à une donation faite par l'évêque de Clermont. De l'édifice primitif ne susbsiste probablement qu'une partie du choeur. Au 14e siècle, il fut englobé dans un ensemble défensif construit par les habitants pour surveiller les alentours, le presbytère actuel servant de tour de guet. Une rangée de corbeaux atteste l'ancienne présence d'un chemin de ronde garni de mâchicoulis. Le bas-côté nord, ou nef Saint-Georges, semble dater du 15e siècle et comporte une croisée d'ogive à clef pendante. La sacristie, dont la clef de voûte porte l'année 1555, a dû servir de chapelle funéraire pour le cimetière. Au 19e siècle, d'importants travaux modifièrent la structure de l'édifice. Un clocher fut élevé, et un deuxième bas-côté fut ajouté à la nef Saint-Georges. Des fonds baptismaux furent aménagés dans le mur sud, et la cuve baptismal actuelle provient d'un moulin à huile. En 1891, pavement de la nef. A l'intérieur, culots sculptés et petits chapiteaux figurés. Des boiseries rocaille garnissent les pans latéraux du choeur.

History
The former church was dependent on the chapter of the cathedral of Clermont following a donation made by the bishop of Clermont. Of the primitive building there probably subsist only a part of the choir. In the 14th century, it was encompassed within a defensive complex constructed by the inhabitants to watch over the surroundings, the present presbytery serving as a watchtower. A row of corbels attests the former presence of a parapet walk furnished with machicolations. The north aisle, or Saint-Georges nave, appears to date from the 15th century and contains a rib vault with a pendant key. The sacristy, whose vault key bears the year 1555, must have served as a funerary chapel for the cemetery. In the 19th century, important works modified the structure of the building. A bell tower was erected, and a second aisle was added to the Saint-Georges nave. Baptismal fonts were arranged in the south wall, and the present baptismal font comes from an oil mill.
