La cure de l'église était à la collation de l'abbé de la Chaise-Dieu et faisait partie de l'archiprêtré du Livradois annexé à la cure de Saint-Priest de Bertignat. C'est un édifice à une seule nef de trois travées, une abside carrée, voûtée d'ogives ainsi que les deux premières travées auxquelles sont adossées des chapelles également voûtées d'ogives. A la dernière travée ouest est adossé le porche d'entrée en plein cintre dont l'accès s'effectue par des escaliers. Cette travée supporte le clocher rectangulaire à un étage percé d'ouvertures géminées en arc brisé sur chacune de ses faces et flanqué au nord d'une tour carrée à sa base hexagonale dans sa partie supérieure, renfermant un escalier à vis conduisant au clocher. Sous le porche d'entrée se trouve un autel carolingien en pierre. £L'église renferme un retable des 17e-18e siècles. Cette pièce, dont les boiseries occupent tout le fond du choeur, comporte quatre colonnes torses autour desquelles s'enroule un cep de vigne, surmontées de chapiteaux à feuillage. La partie centrale renferme une toile représentant la Nativité. Les deux panneaux latéraux sont occupés par deux statues de Saint-Jean et de Saint-Roch. Au-dessus de la corniche, un panneau semi-circulaire sur lequel est sculpté le Père Eternel bénissant, paraît être d'une autre facture.

History
The rectory of the church was in the collation of the abbot of la Chaise-Dieu and formed part of the archpriest of Livradois annexed to the rectory of Saint-Priest de Bertignat. It is an edifice with a single nave of three bays, a square apse, rib-vaulted as are the first two bays to which are attached chapels also rib-vaulted. To the last western bay is attached the entrance porch with round arch access to which is by stairs. This bay supports the rectangular bell tower with one storey pierced with twin openings in pointed arch on each of its faces and flanked to the north by a square tower with a hexagonal base in its upper part, containing a spiral staircase leading to the bell tower. Under the entrance porch is found a Carolingian stone altar. The church contains a retable of the 17th-18th centuries. This piece, whose woodwork occupies the entire back of the choir, comprises four twisted columns around which winds a grape vine, surmounted by foliage capitals. The central part contains a canvas representing the Nativity. The two lateral panels are occupied by two statues of Saint-Jean and Saint-Roch. Above the cornice, a semi-circular panel on which is carved the Eternal Father blessing, appears to be of different workmanship.
