Maison-forte plutôt que château, l'édifice a été bâti vers l'an 1500 sur l'emplacement d'un château plus ancien dont la tour ronde de l'extrémité nord-est constituerait un témoignage. Ce manoir est entouré d'un ensemble comportant une maison d'habitation et divers bâtiments à destination agricole. L'intérêt de cette ferme fortifiée est de constituer un bon exemple du rôle à la fois militaire et agricole que ce type d'édifice joua en Auvergne. En façade ouest est encastrée une pierre remployée d'époque romaine portant inscription latine. Au cours de la dernière guerre mondiale, un incendie a détruit l'intérieur et endommagé le gros oeuvre. History
More of a fortified house than a château, the building was constructed around the year 1500 on the site of an older château of which the round tower at the north-east extremity would constitute testimony. This manor is surrounded by a complex comprising a dwelling house and various buildings for agricultural purposes. The interest of this fortified farm is that it constitutes a good example of the role both military and agricultural which this type of building played in Auvergne. On the west façade is set a reused stone of the Roman period bearing a Latin inscription. During the last world war, a fire destroyed the interior and damaged the main structure. Birthplace of the family of General de Lafayette.
