Les six pigeonniers, construits en maçonnerie de moëllons enduits, couverts en lauze (sauf le n°3 en tuiles canal) , se différencient les uns des autres dans leur hauteur et leur toiture, tantôt conique avec lanternon, tantôt à pente unique. Leur construction cylindrique laisse supposer une date antérieure au 16e siècle (période d'apparition des bâtiments carrés) , pour les autres un peu plus récente. Ils pourraient avoir été érigés par les barons de la Tour d'Auvergne qui ont possédé Saint-Saturnin du 12e siècle jusqu'en 1668. Les aménagements intérieurs ont disparu. Le colombier n°6 conserve, à l'extérieur, des traces de peintures anciennes représentant des feuillages.

History
The six dovecotes, built in rubble-stone masonry with render, covered with stone slates (except no. 3 with barrel tiles), differ from each other in their height and their roof, sometimes conical with a small lantern-turret, sometimes with a single slope. Their cylindrical construction suggests a date earlier than the 16th century (period of appearance of square buildings), for the others somewhat more recent. They could have been erected by the barons of the Tower of Auvergne who owned Saint-Saturnin from the 12th century until 1668. The interior fittings have disappeared. The dovecote no. 6 retains, on the outside, traces of old paintings representing foliage.
