History
Supported by a hinterland with a strong cattle-raising population, the tanneries of Maringues worked different sorts of hides; these were subjected to river work in running water, treated in vats, finished and dried in drying-frames with wooden plank levels at the storey. The buildings, constructed in volcanic stone and with timber framing have a tile roof and do not present any precise dating elements (perhaps from the 17th century). The tanner and wax-chandler workshops are preserved; an eco-museum presents the work of leather in the river.
