De l'enceinte castrale sont conservés d'importants éléments de muraille ainsi qu'une tour dont l'entrée est au premier étage selon les dispositions coutumières dans ce genre d'ouvrage défensif. Le donjon se trouve à l'angle nord-est et est le seul exemple de donjon de place-forte conservé dans la région, avec ceux de Montpeyroux et de La Sauvetat. L'ouvrage se présente comme une tour cylindrique dont la base est à plusieurs mètres au-dessus du sol. Un pont-levis ou une galerie mobile donnait accès à l'étage. Les têtes de poutres étaient reçues dans trois trous carrés encore apparents sous la base de la porte plein cintre, à tympan formé d'une seule pierre taillée et unie, soutenue par deux corbelets et posés légèrement en retrait. Le donjon a été découronné et rasé à hauteur du second étage. Les voûtes du rez-de-chaussée et du premier étage ont été démolies. Il ne reste que des vestiges de l'escalier primitif reliant le premier étage au couronnement. Le donjon est percé de petites ouvertures (archère, meurtrière).

History
Of the castle enclosure, significant elements of walling are preserved as well as a tower whose entrance is on the first floor according to the usual dispositions in this kind of defensive work. The keep is located at the north-east angle and is the only example of a keep of a stronghold preserved in the region, along with those of Montpeyroux and La Sauvetat. The work presents itself as a cylindrical tower whose base is several metres above ground. A drawbridge or mobile gallery gave access to the floor. The ends of the beams were received in three square holes still visible below the base of the round arch door, with tympanum formed of a single dressed stone, smooth and united, supported by two corbels and placed slightly set back. The keep was stripped of its crown and razed to the height of the second floor. The vaults of the ground floor and first floor were demolished. Only vestiges of the original staircase connecting the first floor to the crown remain. The keep is pierced with small openings (arrow slit, loophole).
