History

The church of Saint-Golven is a building of Romanesque origin almost entirely rebuilt between the 14th and 16th centuries. From the original building there remain only a section of the south wall of the nave and the columns which formerly opened onto the north aisle (destroyed in the 19th century); they are now incorporated into the north wall of the nave, rebuilt in the 15th century. The choir was rebuilt in the 14th century, at the time of the addition of a chapel forming a transept; a seigneurial chapel (now sacristy) was added in the 16th century; the rebuilding of the west facade and the bell tower in the 16th century completed the building's appearance as we know it today.
