Located in the port district of Redon, which knew its apogee in the 17th century (trade in grain, construction timber, Laval fabrics, etc.), and acquired its present appearance through the construction of its granite quays, the château of the Mail and the Hôtel de Richelieu are among those fine residences built by merchants, shipowners, wealthy landowners from the surrounding area, magistrates and commissioners of war.
