Historique
L'ancienne redoute de l'île fut transformée en fort par Garangeau en 1689. Situé au sommet de l'îlot principal, son enceinte occupe un périmètre irrégulier percé de créneaux. Sur le plan Est se voit un petit bastion pentagonal et, à l'angle sud-est, un autre bastion appelé "l'Avancé". Ce bastion donne accès au fort. Un bâtiment de casernement et un magasin à poudre dominent les courtines.

History
The former redoubt of the island was transformed into a fort by Garangeau in 1689. Situated at the summit of the main islet, its enclosure occupies an irregular perimeter pierced with crenellations. On the East plan is seen a small pentagonal bastion and, at the south-east corner, another bastion called "l'Avancé". This bastion gives access to the fort. A barrack building and a powder magazine dominate the curtain walls.
