Fondée à la fin du 11e siècle, l'abbaye de Saint-Mathieu est ravagée successivement en 1295, 1375 et 1404. Restaurée par les Mauristes au 17e siècle, elle est vendue comme bien national et démolie, à l'exception de l'église abbatiale qui subsiste en partie et a été classée Monument Historique en 1867. L'édifice, en ruines, présente une nef à sept travées avec bas-côtés du 13e siècle, modifiée au 14e, un transept et un choeur profond à chevet plat datant des 14e et 15e siècles.

History
Founded at the end of the 11th century, the abbey of Saint-Mathieu was ravaged successively in 1295, 1375 and 1404. Restored by the Maurists in the 17th century, it was sold as national property and demolished, with the exception of the abbey church which survives in part and was classified as a Historic Monument in 1867. The building, in ruins, presents a nave with seven bays with aisles from the 13th century, modified in the 14th, a transept and a deep choir with flat chevet dating from the 14th and 15th centuries.
