Immeuble d'habitation comportant neuf niveaux, construit de 1912 à 1914 par les architectes Henri Sauvage et Charles Sarazin. "Maison à gradins sportive" (le projet comportait des salles d'escrime) , cet édifice est la première construction parisienne à gradins, dessin pour lequel les architectes avaient déposé un brevet d'invention et créé une société, propriétaire du terrain. Le projet comporte des magasins de commerce en rez-de-chaussée sur la rue Vavin. Le revêtement en carreaux de grès blancs, fournis par la faïencerie Boulenger de Choisy-le-Roi (94) , est du même type que les revêtements du métro ; il est égayé de quelques carreaux bleus. L'architecte Sauvage y a occupé un appartement, ainsi que l'écrivain Paul Nizan.

Apartment building comprising nine levels, built from 1912 to 1914 by architects Henri Sauvage and Charles Sarazin. "Sporting tiered house" (the project included fencing halls), this building is the first Parisian stepped construction, a design for which the architects had filed a patent for invention and created a company, owner of the land. The project comprises retail shops on the ground floor on the Vavin street. The facing of white stoneware tiles, supplied by the Boulenger faience works of Choisy-le-Roi (94), is of the same type as the Metro facings; it is enlivened with a few blue tiles. Architect Sauvage occupied an apartment there, as did the writer Paul Nizan.
