Historique
Cité ouvrière comportant 40 pavillons accolés, construite de 1926 à 1931 par l'architecte Henri Gutton et son fils André. Destinée aux cheminots de la Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de l'Etat, la cité est située à proximité de la gare de Trappes, l'un des centres ferroviaires les plus importants de France. Dotés chacun d'un jardin privatif, les pavillons sont disposés à 45° de part et d'autre d'une voie publique (l'avenue Marceau) , valant à la cité son appellation "Les Dents de Scie". Ils sont construits en briques, revêtues en 1938 de plaques enduites. Trois maisons détruites pendant les bombardements de la dernière guerre sont reconstruites en béton armé. La cité appartient aujourd'hui à l'Office Public interdépartemental de l'Essonne, du Val-d'Oise et des Yvelines. Sa protection en 1992 est intervenue à la suite d'une demande de l'Amicale des locataires de la cité.

History
Workers' housing estate comprising 40 adjoining pavilions, constructed from 1926 to 1931 by the architect Henri Gutton and his son André. Intended for railway workers of the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de l'Etat, the estate is situated near the station of Trappes, one of the most important railway centres in France. Each equipped with a private garden, the pavilions are arranged at 45° on either side of a public way (avenue Marceau), giving the estate its name "Les Dents de Scie". They are constructed in brick, faced in 1938 with render plaques. Three houses destroyed during the bombing of the last war were rebuilt in reinforced concrete. The estate today belongs to the Interdepartmental Public Office of Essonne, Val-d'Oise and Yvelines. Its protection in 1992 was granted following a request from the Association of residents of the estate.
