Historique
Cet hôtel est l'un des deniers témoins du cadre de l'avenue de l'Impératrice créée en 1854. Il a été construit en 1859 par l'architecte Thierry pour Madame de Monpelas. Après avoir été la propriété du duc de Nemours, il est acquis par Monsieur Ephrussi et son épouse, née Béatrice de Rothschild. Il abrite depuis décembre 1979 l'ambassade d'Angola. L'ensemble présente un important corps de logis à deux niveaux de porte-fenêtres plus un niveau sous comble, encadré de deux petites ailes au niveau du soubassement. A l'intérieur sont conservées quelques pièces avec décor, dont le fumoir et ses boiseries et le petit salon (boiseries peut-être rapportées du petit château de la Du Barry à Louveciennes).

History
This hotel is one of the last witnesses to the setting of the avenue de l'Impératrice created in 1854. It was constructed in 1859 by the architect Thierry for Madame de Monpelas. After being the property of the duc de Nemours, it was acquired by Monsieur Ephrussi and his wife, born Béatrice de Rothschild. It has housed the embassy of Angola since December 1979. The whole presents an important main dwelling with two levels of French windows plus a level under the roof space, flanked by two small wings at the level of the plinth. Inside are preserved some rooms with décor, including the smoking room and its panelling and the small drawing room (panelling perhaps brought from the small château of the Du Barry at Louveciennes).
