L'abbaye de Cagnotte, fondée par les Bénédictins, existait avant le 9e siècle. Sans doute dévastée par les Normands, l'abbaye est réédifiée au 12e siècle. Depuis la Révolution, l'église a subi transformations et restaurations (reconstruction de la nef et des bas-côtés) , mais conserve quelques vestiges anciens. L'intérêt de l'église réside dans le transept et le choeur. Les deux bras du transept ouvrent par de grands arcs plats en tiers point à deux rouleaux qui reposent sur des chapiteaux sculptés. Les transepts sont voûtés d'ogives et ouvrent sur les bas-côtés par des arcs en tiers points analogues à ceux de la nef. Une petite baie percée en meurtrière éclairait les transepts à l'est. Par la suite, une baie plus grande a été ouverte au 17e siècle sur les faces nord et sud. Le choeur à chevet plat est voûté d'ogives. Trois grandes baies romanes l'éclairaient à l'origine. Au 14e siècle, lors d'une réfection des parties hautes, une baie plus large a été ouverte sur le sommet de l'arc de la voûte et deux oculi sur chacune des faces.

History
The abbey of Cagnotte, founded by the Benedictines, existed before the 9th century. Doubtless devastated by the Normans, the abbey was rebuilt in the 12th century. Since the Revolution, the church has undergone transformations and restorations (reconstruction of the nave and aisles), but preserves some ancient remains. The interest of the church lies in the transept and the choir. The two arms of the transept open by large flat pointed arches with two rolls which rest on sculptured capitals. The transepts are vaulted with rib vaults and open onto the aisles by pointed arches similar to those of the nave. A small opening pierced like a loophole lit the transepts to the east. Subsequently, a larger opening was made in the 17th century on the north and south faces. The choir with a flat chevet is vaulted with ribs. Three large Romanesque openings originally lit it. In the 14th century, during a repair of the upper parts, a wider opening was made on the summit of the arch of the vault and two oculi on each of the faces.
