Historique
L'ordre de Saint-Antoine fut fondé en Dauphiné en 1095 avec mission de soigner les maladies de peau. Deux lettres d'Henri III d'Angleterre, datées de 1254, attestent l'importance du monastère-hôpital de Pondaurat, placé sur l'une des routes de Compostelle. Pris et incendié avec le bourg par les Huguenots en 1577, le couvent fut entièrement remanié à la fin du 17e ou au début du 18e siècle. En 1776, à la suppression des Antonins, le monastère passa à l'ordre de Malte puis fut vendu en 1790 comme bien national. La commune en racheta plus tard une partie dont elle fit le presbytère et, de la chapelle, l'église du bourg. A quelques mètres au nord-ouest de l'église se trouve le logis à contreforts. Il présente des restes d'échauguettes à l'angle sud-ouest et plusieurs baies avec appuis et traverses.

History
The order of Saint-Antoine was founded in Dauphiné in 1095 with the mission of treating skin diseases. Two letters of Henry III of England, dated 1254, attest to the importance of the monastery-hospital of Pondaurat, situated on one of the roads to Compostela. Taken and burned along with the town by the Huguenots in 1577, the convent was entirely remodelled at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century. In 1776, upon the suppression of the Antonines, the monastery passed to the order of Malta and was then sold in 1790 as national property. The commune later repurchased part of it which it made into the presbytery and, from the chapel, the church of the town. A few metres to the northwest of the church is found the dwelling with buttresses. It presents remains of echauguettes at the southwest angle and several openings with sills and mullions.
