Historique
L'ordre de Saint-Antoine fut fondé en Dauphiné en 1095 avec mission de soigner les maladies de peau. Deux lettres d'Henri III d'Angleterre, datées de 1254, attestent l'importance du monastère-hôpital de Pondaurat, placé sur l'une des routes de Compostelle. Pris et incendié avec le bourg par les Huguenots en 1577, le couvent fut entièrement remanié à la fin du 17e ou au début du 18e siècle. En 1776, à la suppression des Antonins, le monastère passa à l'ordre de Malte puis fut vendu en 1790 comme bien national. La commune en racheta plus tard une partie dont elle fit le presbytère et, de la chapelle, l'église du bourg. Le pont-barrage se compose de quatre arches en plein cintre. Il est pavé et muni d'une forte rainure de guidage pour les charrettes. Au bout du pont, le passage est rétréci par une saillie du moulin et devait être muni d'une porte.

History
The Order of Saint-Antoine was founded in Dauphiné in 1095 with the mission of treating skin diseases. Two letters from Henry III of England, dated 1254, attest the importance of the monastery-hospital of Pondaurat, placed on one of the routes to Compostella. Taken and burned along with the borough by the Huguenots in 1577, the convent was entirely remodelled at the end of the 17th or beginning of the 18th century. In 1776, at the suppression of the Antonines, the monastery passed to the Order of Malta then was sold in 1790 as national property. The commune later bought back part of it which it made into the presbytery and, from the chapel, the church of the borough. The weir-bridge is composed of four round arches. It is paved and fitted with a strong guiding groove for carts. At the end of the bridge, the passage is narrowed by a projection of the mill and must have been furnished with a gate.
