Historique
Cette église, ainsi que l'ancienne chartreuse dont elle ferait partie, a été construite au début du 17e siècle par François d'Escoubleau de Sourdis, archevêque de Bordeaux en 1599. La réalisation de cette entreprise entraîna de vastes travaux d'assèchement pour transformer un marais en terrain salubre. Cloître, jardins et cellules ont disparu. D'autres bâtiments subsistent. History
This church, as well as the former charterhouse of which it may have been part, was built in the early 17th century by François d'Escoubleau de Sourdis, archbishop of Bordeaux in 1599. The realisation of this undertaking entailed extensive drainage works to transform a marsh into healthy terrain. Cloister, gardens and cells have disappeared. Other buildings remain. The church consists of a simple nave and a space which could have served as an aisle to it. The choir woodwork has remained in place, as well as the stalls. Columns and pilasters in marble, carved cornices, niches, statues adorned the sanctuary. The entire vault and the part of the walls situated above the woodwork, all around the church, were painted in 1742 by Gonsalis and Berinzago.
