Historique
Nouveau palais archiépiscopal construit par les architectes Etienne et Bonfin entre 1771 et 1778. Hôtel de l'Archevêché jusqu'à la Révolution, siège du tribunal criminel en 1791, hôtel de la préfecture en 1802, palais impérial en 1808 et château royal en 1815, le Palais Rohan devient Hôtel de Ville en 1835. Deux incendies en 1862 et 1870 ont peu affecté les extérieurs, mais ont modifié la distribution et les décors intérieurs. Le décor intérieur a été réalisé par le sculpteur Cabirol à partir de 1781 (lambris du grand salon et décor du fronton de la façade sur jardin) et le peintre Lacour en 1783-1784 (décor en grisaille de la salle à manger). History
New archiepiscopal palace built by architects Etienne and Bonfin between 1771 and 1778. Hotel of the Archbishopric until the Revolution, seat of the criminal tribunal in 1791, prefecture hotel in 1802, imperial palace in 1808 and royal castle in 1815, the Palais Rohan became Town Hall in 1835. Two fires in 1862 and 1870 affected the exteriors little, but modified the interior layout and decoration. The interior decoration was carried out by sculptor Cabirol from 1781 onwards (wainscoting of the large drawing room and decoration of the pediment of the garden façade) and painter Lacour in 1783-1784 (grisaille decoration of the dining room). Some modifications of decoration took place during the 19th century.
