Historique
La construction des granges ovales, type limité à un secteur situé à la rencontre des départements de la Haute Vienne, de la Corrèze et de la Dordogne, apparaît au milieu du 18e siècle et se poursuit au moins jusqu'au milieu du 19e. Le plan au sol se caractérise par sa forme elliptique. Une ossature en bois constitue la structure du bâtiment. En général, six piliers carrés supportent les arbalétriers portant les pannes et les chevrons, et définissent, avec les arbalétriers des croupes, la forme ovale. L'ensemble recevait une couverture de chaume. Les murs de schiste et de quartz ne sont pas porteurs, et n'assurent qu'un rôle de clôture. History
The construction of oval barns, a type limited to a sector situated at the meeting point of the departments of Haute Vienne, Corrèze and Dordogne, appears in the middle of the 18th century and continues at least until the middle of the 19th century. The ground plan is characterized by its elliptical form. A timber framework constitutes the structure of the building. In general, six square pillars support the rafters carrying the purlins and the common rafters, and define, with the rafters of the hipped ends, the oval form. The whole received a covering of thatch. The walls of schist and quartz are not load-bearing, and serve only a role of enclosure. The principal doorway opens back from the center of the façade.
