Historique

History
This church was dependent, in the 13th century, on the archpresbytery of Paleyrac and had as its patron the collegiate church of Saint-Cyprien. In 1439, the lord of Turenne lays siege to Allas, held by the English, and returns it to French dependency. The building presents a nave of three bays with rib vaults and a choir. The third bay serves as transept by the addition of two chapels which open by large round arches borne on pilasters. The choir, whose round arch triumphal arch rests on piles similar to those of the nave, is vaulted with a barrel vault. On the west façade divided into three registers by bands, the portal comprises three archivolts in pointed arch resting on a sculptured band which continues across the entire depth of the portal, serving as a capital. The archivolts are extended by small colonnettes with sculptured bases. The second register comprises two buttresses which extend the door jambs of the portal and between which opens a round arch opening. The third register is formed by the rectilinear bell tower wall, pierced by three bell-openings. This façade is flanked to the south-west by a cylindrical staircase turret pierced with loopholes and decorated, to the south, with a female head. Beneath the band of the third register are carved two shields, one representing three quadrupeds, the other two quadrupeds and the head of a bovine.
