Villa construite par l'architecte Lucien Hesse peu après 1904 (date du lotissement du domaine privé du Cap-Martin) pour Ernesta Stern, femme de lettres qui a publié des contes vénitiens sous le nom de Maria Star. L'aménagement intérieur de la villa, d'inspiration orientalisante, ainsi que les jardins, sont l'oeuvre de Raffaële Maïnella, peintre de paysage et de genre, né à Bénévent (Italie) en 1858, et que la commanditaire a fait venir de Venise. Le jardin se caractérise par un long cheminement qui fait traverser les trois parties d'un jardin géométrique inscrites dans la pinède et comportant une dizaine de fabriques.

History
Villa built by the architect Lucien Hesse shortly after 1904 (date of the subdivision of the private estate of Cap-Martin) for Ernesta Stern, woman of letters who published Venetian tales under the name Maria Star. The interior arrangement of the villa, of orientalist inspiration, as well as the gardens, are the work of Raffaële Maïnella, landscape and genre painter, born in Benevento (Italy) in 1858, whom the patron brought from Venice. The garden is characterised by a long pathway that crosses the three parts of a geometric garden inscribed in the pine wood and featuring about ten garden structures.
