The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kuusi suurta ruutukaavakorttelia muodostava Raksila on puutaloalue, josta säännöllinen rakennustapa luo yhtenäisen esikaupungin.

Rakentaminen ajoittuu pääosin 1930-1940 -luvuille. Asuinrakennukset edustavat aikansa suhteikasta klassistishenkistä puutaloarkkitehtuuria. Joissakin kerrostaloissa on funktionalismin piirteitä. Rakennuksissa on useita asuntoja, joita on ajan myötä osin yhdistetty suuremmiksi.

Viimeiset asemakaavan mukaiset talot rakennettiin 1950-luvulla. Teuvo Pakkalan koulu rakennettiin 1950 erityisesti Raksilan viereisen, sotien jälkeen rakentuneen Karjasillan asuinalueen käyttöön.

Puu-Raksila has been built up since the 1920s, and the design principle of the area has been a unified townscape. Raksila, which consists of six large grid plan blocks, is a wooden house area, where a regular building method creates a unified suburb.

Construction took place mainly in the 1930s and 1940s. The residential buildings represent the well-proportioned, classicist-inspired wooden house architecture of their time. Some apartment blocks have features of functionalism. The buildings contain several apartments, some of which have been partly combined into larger ones over time. The area is characterised by a simple yet lively unity and an orderly streetscape. The yards are leafy, and at the end of each yard there is always a fairly small outbuilding. The plots are city rental plots.

The central Puistikkokatu, along which there are old commercial buildings and double rows of trees, is dominated by the Teuvo Pakkala school, completed in 1950 as the terminal feature of the street.

Settlement began east of the Oulu railway as early as the early 20th century, but the building of the railway hinterland, that is the Raksila area, properly got under way after the town plan proposal for the area was approved in 1924. The town plan covered 26 city rental plots of 1102 m2. The last houses according to the town plan were built in the 1950s. The Teuvo Pakkala school was built in 1950, especially for the use of the Karjasilta residential area next to Raksila, which was built after the wars.
