The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Raahen kansallisromanttista tyylisuuntausta edustava rautatieasema poikkeaa muista aikakautensa asemarakennuksista.

Yksityisen radan varteen rakennettu Raahen rautatieasema sijaitsee kaupungin kaakkoiskulmassa. Puinen asemarakennus on rakennettu 1899-1900. Asema on tuntemattoman arkkitehdin suunnittelema. Asema-alueeseen liittyy myös puisto istutuksineen sekä nikkarityylinen entinen tullikamari.

Raahessa ryhdyttiin suunnittelemaan rautatien rakentamista ensimmäisen kerran jo 1873.

Yksityinen Raahen Rautatieosakeyhtiö rakennutti Raahen asemarakennuksen vuosina 1899–1890.

Ensimmäinen juna saapui asemalle elokuussa 1899, ja aseman juhlalliset vihkiäiset järjestettiin Raahen kaupungin 250-vuotisjuhlapäivänä 5.12.1899. Rataan kohdistetut odotukset eivät täyttyneet, vaan se osoittautui tappiolliseksi. Vielä 1900-luvun alussa tutkittiin mahdollisuutta yhdysradan rakentamiseksi Iisalmen–Kajaanin –radalle.

The Raahe railway station, which represents the National Romantic style, differs from other station buildings of its era.

Built alongside a private railway line, Raahe railway station is located in the south-eastern corner of the town. The wooden station building was built in 1899-1900. The station was designed by an unidentified architect. The station area also includes a park with plantings and the former nikkarityylinen customs house.

In Raahe, planning for a railway was first started as early as 1873. The line was built privately in 1898-1899, after the Diet had decided not to take part in its construction. kauppaneuvos Henrik Sovelius had donated 200 000 markkaa for the construction work, and the town of Raahe paid the other half of the costs. At the same time, the port of Raahe was improved at Lapaluoto, since the line was hoped to become an important railway to the timber port.

The private Raahen Rautatieosakeyhtiö had the Raahe station building constructed in the years 1899–1890.

The first train arrived at the station in August 1899, and the solemn inauguration of the station was held on the 250th anniversary day of the town of Raahe, 5.12.1899. The expectations placed on the line were not met; instead, it proved to be loss-making. Still at the beginning of the 20th century, the possibility of building a connecting line to the Iisalmi–Kajaani railway was being investigated.
