Kuvaus
Vanhan Hämeenkankaantien varrella sijaitsevan raittikylän, Herttualan, tiivis kylärakenne ja monipuolinen rakennuskanta ovat säilyneet hyvin Pirkanmaan viljely- ja järviseudulle ominaisessa vaihtelevassa, pitkään viljelyksessä olleessa agraarimaisemassa.
Herttualan kylä sijaitsee aikanaan Satakunnasta Pohjanmaalle johtaneen yleisen maantien varrella. Herttualan kylänraitti onkin osa Hämeenkankaan tietä. Kylä koostuu niin talonpoikaistaloista kuin myös pienemmistä käsityöläis- ja itsellismökeistä. Kylän pohjoislaidalla on kolme suurta talonpoikaistilaa, joiden vanhat rakennukset sijaitsevat tiiviinä ryhmänä kylänraitin molemmin puolin. Lähellä toisiaan sijaitsevat Kirmon ja Mikkolan talonpoikaistilat. Tienristeyksen länsipuolella on tiivistä tupa-asutusta, joukossa mm. vanha asesepän paja. Kylää ympäröivät laajat viljelykset. Herttualan kylä liittyy laajempaan Heinijärven kulttuurimaisemaan ja sillanpääläiseen maisemakuvaan.
Historia
Herttualan kylä asutettiin keskiajan kuluessa, uuden ajan alkupuolella kylässä oli kolme taloa. Tiivisti rakennettu kylärakenne säilyi vielä 1860-luvulle saakka, jolloin Kirmon ja Mikkolan tilojen rakennusten välistä purettiin Ala-Keskisen tilakeskus. Mikkolan tilan päärakennus on peräisin 1800-luvun jälkipuoliskolta, Kirmon molemmat asuinrakennukset rakennettiin 1800-luvulla.

Description
The compact village structure and varied building stock of Herttuala, a street village on the old Hämeenkangas road, have survived well in the varied, long-cultivated agrarian landscape characteristic of the Pirkanmaa farming and lake region.
The village of Herttuala lies along the public road that once led from Satakunta to Ostrobothnia. The village street of Herttuala is in fact part of the Hämeenkangas road. The village consists of farmhouses as well as smaller craftsmen's and itsellis cottages. At the northern edge of the village there are three large farmsteads, whose old buildings stand in a compact group on both sides of the village street. The Kirmo and Mikkola farmsteads are located close to each other. West of the road junction there is dense tupa-asutus, including, among others, the old gunsmith's workshop. The village is surrounded by extensive cultivated fields. Herttuala village is connected to the wider cultural landscape of Lake Heinijärvi and to the sillanpääläinen landscape pattern.
History
Herttuala village was settled during the Middle Ages, and in the early modern period the village had three farms. The densely built village structure survived until the 1860s, when the Ala-Keskinen farm centre was demolished from between the buildings of the Kirmo and Mikkola farms. The main building of the Mikkola farm dates from the second half of the 19th century, and both residential buildings of Kirmo were built in the 19th century.
