The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Simpeleen kirkko on mielenkiintoinen esimerkki teollisuusyhdyskuntien määrätietoisesta kristillis-sosiaalisesta toiminnasta. Teollisuuslaitosten sitoutuminen ja osallistuminen kirkon rakentamiseen on tuottanut taiteelliselta tasoltaan korkeatasoista kirkkoarkkitehtuuria, josta Simpeleen kirkko on Kuusankosken, Mäntän, Noormarkun, Rajamäen ja Säynätsalon ohella edustava esimerkki.

Vaaleaksi rapatussa kirkossa on pelkistetty päätytorni, jonka kautta sisäänkäynti tapahtuu. Kuoriosa ulkonee alttaripäädystä porrastuen runkohuonetta matalampana ja kapeampana. Pohjakaavaltaan suorakaiteen muotoinen kirkkosali jakaantuu korkeaan keskilaivaan ja kahteen käytävänä toimivaan matalampaan sivulaivaan. Alvar Cawénin alttaritaulu "Rukous työn ääressä viljapellolla" on vuodelta 1933. Kirkon pieniruutuiset ikkunat ovat 1960-luvulta. Yhtiön lahjoittamat lasimaalaukset kuvaavat seurakuntalaisia arkisen työnsä ääressä paperitehtaassa.

Kirkon pohjoispuolella oleva sankarihauta-alue muodostuu korkeasta kiviseinästä, johon sankarivainajien nimilaatat on sijoitettu, ja kuvanveistäjä Eila Hiltusen tekemästä pronssireliefistä vuodelta 1953.

Kirkon eteläpuolella on 1930-luvulla rakennettu pappila lukuisine talousrakennuksineen.

Parikkalaan kuulunut Simpele erotettiin itsenäiseksi seurakunnaksi 1920.

Arkkitehtien Elsi Borg ja Elsa Arokallio suunnittelema kirkko rakennettiin 1932-1933. Kirkon pieniruutuiset ikkunat uusittiin 1960-luvulla ja niihin sijoitettiin Yhtyneitten Paperitehtaiden lahjoittamat, Mikko Vuorisen tekemät lasimaalaukset. Kirkon kuoriosa muutettiin 1974 arkkitehti Elsa Arokallion suunnittelemassa korjauksessa.

Kirkon aikaansaamiseen vaikutti voimakkaasti paikkakunnalla toiminut Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat Osakeyhtiö.

Simpele Church is an interesting example of the purposeful Christian-social activity of industrial communities. The commitment and participation of industrial enterprises in church building have produced church architecture of high artistic standard, of which Simpele Church is, alongside Kuusankoski, Mänttä, Noormarkku, Rajamäki and Säynätsalo, a representative example.

The church, rendered in pale white, has a stripped-down end tower through which the entrance is made. The chancel projects from the altar end, stepped down lower and narrower than the nave. The church hall, rectangular in ground plan, is divided into a tall central nave and two lower side aisles functioning as passageways. The altarpiece by Alvar Cawén, "Prayer at Work in a Grain Field", dates from 1933. The church's small-paned windows date from the 1960s. The stained-glass windows donated by the company depict parishioners at their everyday work in a paper mill.

The war hero grave area north of the church consists of a tall stone wall, on which the name plaques of the fallen heroes have been placed, and a bronze relief from 1953 by the sculptor Eila Hiltunen.

On the south side of the church is the parsonage, built in the 1930s, with its numerous outbuildings.

Simpele, which had belonged to Parikkala, was separated as an independent parish in 1920.

The church designed by architects Elsi Borg and Elsa Arokallio was built in 1932-1933. The church's small-paned windows were renewed in the 1960s, and stained glass paintings by Mikko Vuorinen, donated by Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat, were installed in them. The choir section of the church was altered in 1974 in a restoration designed by architect Elsa Arokallio.

The realisation of the church was strongly influenced by Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat Osakeyhtiö, which operated in the locality.
