The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kaupunkialueen ulkopuolelle 1881 perustetun suurhautausmaan tunnetuin muistomerkki on Juseliuksen mausoleumi. Hautausmaan vanha siunauskappeli on yksi Suomen ensimmäisiä.

Juseliuksen kahdeksankulmaisen harmaakiviverhoillun hautakappelin keskellä on marmorikaiteen reunustama krypta.

1960 valmistuneen uuden siunauskappelin on suunnitellut arkkitehti Keijo Valli. Kappelin seinässä on Jussi Vikaisen reliefi Enkeli ja purjeenlaskija.

1902 valmistuneen hautakappelin rakennutti vuorineuvos F.A. Juselius 11-vuotiaana kuolleen Sigrid tyttärensä muistoksi. Kryptassa oleva Sigrid Juseliuksen marmorisarkofagin on veistänyt kuvanveistäjä Gunnar Finne 1933 järjestetyn suunnittelukilpailun voittaneen arkkitehti Jarl Eklundin ehdotuksen mukaan. Sisätilojen maalauskoristelun tekivät Akseli Gallen-Kallela ja Pekka Halonen. Kosteuden ja tulipalon turmelemat maalaukset jouduttiin maalaamaan uudelleen 1933-1939. Työn teki Jorma Gallen-Kallela isänsä luonnosten pohjalta.

The best-known monument in the large cemetery established outside the urban area in 1881 is the Juselius mausoleum. The cemetery's old blessing chapel is one of the first in Finland.

At the centre of the Juselius octagonal grey stone-clad mausoleum is a crypt surrounded by a marble railing. The mausoleum, designed by architect Josef Stenbäck, was completed in 1902. The walls of the chapel bear frescoes, made after sketches by Akseli Gallen-Kallela, titled Tuonelaan lähtijöitä.

The older of the cemetery's blessing chapels was completed in 1891 and was drawn by architect Brynolf Blomqvist. The new blessing chapel, completed in 1960, was designed by architect Keijo Valli. On the wall of the chapel is Jussi Vikainen's relief Enkeli ja purjeenlaskija.

The mausoleum completed in 1902 was built by vuorineuvos F.A. Juselius in memory of his daughter Sigrid, who died aged 11. The marble sarcophagus of Sigrid Juselius in the crypt was carved by sculptor Gunnar Finne, according to the proposal of architect Jarl Eklund, winner of a design competition held in 1933. The painted decoration of the interior was done by Akseli Gallen-Kallela and Pekka Halonen. The paintings, damaged by damp and fire, had to be repainted in 1933-1939. The work was carried out by Jorma Gallen-Kallela based on his father's sketches.
