The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Laajasta rakennuskannasta on säilynyt kymmenkunta rakennusta.

Pohjakaavaltaan L-kirjaimen muotoisen rakennuksen toinen kuutiomainen siipi on yksi-, toinen kaksikerroksinen. Pääkerroksen olohuoneesta ja isännänhuoneesta on yhteys etelään avautuvaan puutarhaan.

Ammuslataamon alue suunniteltiin 1935 puolustusministeriössä. Puolustuspoliittisista syistä ammuslataamon sijaintipaikaksi valittiin sisämaan paikkakunta kuten muullekin sen ajan sotatarviketeollisuudelle, jonka laitoksia sijoitettiin Jyväkylään ja Tampereelle. Lataamon alkuaan 26 erillistä rakennuksesta sijoitettiin mahdollisten räjähdysten varalta kahden erkanevan tien varteen.

Elsi Borg voitti puolustusministeriön rakennustoimistossa järjestetyn kilpailun ammuslataamon johtajan asunnon suunnittelusta. Rakennus valmistui 1937.

Sotien jälkeen alueella toimi Valmetin Kuopion tehdas ja Rikkihappo Oy. Rakennukset omistaa valtio. Osa rakennuksista on Kuopion yliopiston ja osa Geologian tutkimuslaitoksen käytössä.

The former ammunition depot building group in Kuopio is part of the significant building stock erected by the Defence Forces at the beginning of the independence period. The special use of the area is reflected in the layout of its town plan.

The ammunition depot's special area, architecturally uniform, is located between Savilahti and Neulamäki. The buildings, designed by architect Kalle Lehtovuori, originally numbered 26 and were built in the 1930s as functionalism realised by the Defence Administration. About ten buildings have survived from the extensive building stock.

A representative example of the same stylistic trend and of housing architecture for personnel of the Defence Administration is also the residence of the ammunition depot's commander, the so-called Tiukanlinna, named after Colonel Tiukka. Architects Elsi Borg and Kyllikki Halme were responsible for its design in the 1930s. Of the L-shaped building in plan, the one cubic wing is one-storey and the other is two-storey. The living room and the master's room on the main floor have a connection to the garden opening to the south.

The ammunition loading plant area was designed in 1935 at the Ministry of Defence. For defence policy reasons, an inland location was chosen for the ammunition loading plant, as was the case for other wartime materiel industries of the period, whose facilities were located in Jyväkylä and Tampere. The plant's original 26 separate buildings were placed along two diverging roads in case of possible explosions.

Elsi Borg won the competition for the design of the ammunition loading plant director's residence, held in the building office of the Ministry of Defence. The building was completed in 1937.

After the wars, the area housed the Valmet Kuopio factory and Rikkihappo Oy. The buildings are owned by the state. Some of the buildings are used by Kuopion yliopisto and some by Geologian tutkimuslaitos.
