Kuvaus
Mankolan sotilasvirkatalo, tyttöjen ammatillista koulutusta varten 1932 perustettu kotitalousoppilaitos ja Uusi Mankola, niiden rakennukset ja ympäröivä maanviljelysmaisema muodostavat monipuolisen kulttuurimaisema-alueen Tuomiojärven ja Palokkajärven välisellä kannaksella.
Maantien varrella oleva Mankolan sotilasvirkatalon punamullattu 1850-luvulla rakennettu asuinrakennus on Jyväskylän seudun vanhimpia säilyneitä rakennuksia. Mankolan sotilasvirkatalon oppilaitoshistoria alkaa 1930-luvulta alueelle perustetun emäntäkoulun ansiosta. 1940-luvun alussa kotitalousopistoksi muutettu oppilaitos jatkoi vuosikymmenen loppupuolella Keski-Suomen kotitalousopettajaopistona. Klassistishenkisen kolmekerroksisen koulurakennuksen lähiympäristö on istutettu puistoksi heti koulun valmistuttua. Samalta ajalta on myös klassisvaikutteisin tyyppipiirustuksin toteutettu Uusi Mankolan havaintotilan asuinrakennus ja kokkiaitta maantien toisella puolella. Maantieltä havaintotilalle johtaa koivukuja. Maantien varrella oleva Mannilan talo on rakennettu 1900-luvun alussa.
Alueen halki kulkee vanha Jyväskylä-Saarijärvi -maantie. Uusi moottoritie (Nelostie) katkaisee maisemallisen yhteyden Mankolasta Palokkajärvelle.
Oppilaitoksen uudempi rakennuskanta, 1960- ja 1990-luvuilla rakennetut uusi päärakennus ja asuntolat, on sijoitettu vanhan päärakennuksen pohjoispuolelle.
Historia
Mankolan alue on 1600-luvulta saakka ollut kruunun maata. Ruotujakoisen armeijan majoittajan virkataloksi se perustettiin 1809. Mankolan halki kulkeva maantie raivattiin 1700-luvun loppupuolella. Mankola oli vuokrakäytössä 1930-luvulle saakka.
Kotitalousopetuksen komitea esitti linjauksensa opetuksen ja neuvonnan kehittämissuunnista 1915. Kotitalousoppilaitoksia koskevat lait ja koulumuotoja koskevat asetukset astuivat voimaan 1929 ja korvasivat väliaikaisen ohjesäännön vuodelta 1920.
Keski-Suomen emäntäkoulu perustettiin Mankolan tilalle 1932. Emäntäkoulun ensimmäinen vuosikurssi aloitti marraskuussa maatilahallituksen arkkitehdin Jalmari Peltosen suunnittelemassa rakennuksessa, joka oli valmistuessaan nykyaikainen emäntäkoulu. Emäntäkoulun rinnalla ns. Vanha Mankola toimi harjoitustilana ja muun muassa asuntolana. Oppilaitoksen yhteyteen perustettiin Uusi Mankolan havaintotila 1930-luvulla.
Asetus Keski-Suomen emäntäkoulun muuttamisesta kotitalousopistoksi annettiin 1942. Keski-Suomen kotitalousopettajaopisto aloitti 1947. Jyväskylän lisäksi vastaava oppilaitos toimi Järvenpäässä.
Keski-Suomen kotitalousopettajaopiston uusi päärakennus otettiin käyttöön 1967. Alueen oppilaitokset tulivat 1997 Jyväskylän Ammattikorkeakoulun sekä aikuisopiston käyttöön.

Description
The Mankola military official's farm, the home economics institution established in 1932 for the vocational training of girls, and Uusi Mankola, together with their buildings and the surrounding agricultural landscape, form a diverse cultural landscape area on the isthmus between Tuomiojärvi and Palokkajärvi.
The red-ochre-painted residential building of the Mankola military official's farm, built in the 1850s beside the road, is among the oldest surviving buildings in the Jyväskylä area. The educational history of the Mankola military official's farm begins in the 1930s, thanks to the domestic science school established in the area. The institution, converted into a home economics institute at the beginning of the 1940s, continued in the latter part of the decade as the Keski-Suomen kotitalousopettajaopisto. The immediate surroundings of the three-storey school building, which is of classicist spirit, were planted as a park as soon as the school was completed. From the same period also come the residential building of the Uusi Mankola observation farm and the kokkiaitta on the other side of the road, both built to classicist-influenced standard drawings. A birch avenue leads from the road to the observation farm. The Mannila house by the road was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
The old Jyväskylä-Saarijärvi road runs through the area. The new motorway (Nelostie) cuts the visual connection from Mankola to Palokkajärvi.
The newer building stock of the institution, the new main building and dormitories built in the 1960s and 1990s, is located north of the old main building.
History
The Mankola area has been Crown land since the 17th century. It was established as an official farm for the quartering of the ruotujako army in 1809. The road running through Mankola was cleared in the latter part of the 18th century. Mankola was leased out until the 1930s.
The committee on home economics teaching set out its guidelines on the directions for developing teaching and advisory services in 1915. Laws on home economics institutions and decrees on school types came into force in 1929 and replaced the provisional regulations of 1920.
The Keski-Suomen domestic science school was established on the Mankola farm in 1932. The first year-group of the domestic science school began in November, in a building designed by architect Jalmari Peltonen of the maatilahallitus, which on completion was a modern domestic science school. Alongside the domestic science school, the so-called Vanha Mankola functioned as a training farm and, among other things, as a dormitory. The Uusi Mankola observation farm was established in connection with the institution in the 1930s.
A decree on converting the Keski-Suomen domestic science school into a home economics institute was issued in 1942. The Keski-Suomen kotitalousopettajaopisto began operating in 1947. In addition to Jyväskylä, a corresponding institution operated in Järvenpää.
The new main building of the Keski-Suomen kotitalousopettajaopisto was brought into use in 1967. In 1997 the institutions in the area came into use by Jyväskylän Ammattikorkeakoulu and the adult education centre.
