Physical character
The 1915 school is brick on a stone foundation, with a Classical Revival entrance of carved stone pilasters and a wide entablature, and carved name stones reading Springside Public School. Klemann that gave the building an L-shaped plan and moved the entrance to the center, and a 1952 wing built of brick in the International Style.
Historical context
The Parent Teacher Association organized at the school in 1917 and, with the Burlington Township Board of Education and the county library, started a lending library in 1936. The school closed in 2007 and was sold in 2013 for redevelopment as affordable senior housing, a rehabilitation that added a glass hyphen and an elevator penthouse and was certified by the National Park Service and completed in 2014.
